Old School Warn Winch - Help

How can I test it to see if it works. It seems to be wired into a solinoid and I dont have the switch. Want to make sure it works before I sell it.

Just like a starter motor.
Case is grounded
Apply power to the stud on the electric motor.
Solenoid is a simple way of doing that.
