Has anyone here used the Holley Pro fuel injection kit? I can buy one new in the box for $300.00. Is this a good deal? I currently have a rebuilt 302 with an edelbroc 4 barrel.

Before we go any further, which projection is it? Over the years many versions have been made.
The original 2 squirter analog with knobs should be avoided at all costs
The slightly better 4di system is the minimum that you should consider, but I wouldn't pay $300 for it. An I run that set up
If the computer says "Comander 950", then that would be a good deal.

I ran one for several years, worked great for the first year. After that I could never get it to tune right, I replaced the TPS, temp sensor, oxygen sensor and checked wiring, all to no avail. The unit also would run fine for a while, then load up and not allow the engine to build RPM's. My buddy and I got to calling it the holley thing, after a while it would clear back up, but only after thoroughly irritating me and anyone nearby with the smell of an overly rich, barely running engine...

I have the projection in a box, slapped back on a carb and am saving up to swap on a ford injection system. I would avoid the projection, but I have to admit that the price is right.

I can see the knobs. It's the old analog version.
You will see a lot of older rigs with this. They end up mounting the computer under the dash so they can turn the knobs and "tune as they drive". Just something that you need to do every time the weather changes.

I would run a stoc motorcraft 2-barrel before I would run that. And $300 is over priced. Parts are Holley specific, just not a good thing...

He mentioned oxygen sensor, that rules out the analog shown above. The analog does not run an oxygen sensor. The first sytem to run an oxygen sensor is the 4Di system, but I believe there is a retrofit kit that goes back a level or two. But that just adds more boxes and bandaids onto the system.

Broncobowsher thanks for looking I will take your advice. Thanks for saving me $300.00. Could you give me some advice on what you would run. I have a fresh rebuilt 302 with a Edelbrock 1406 performer series carb. The motor and carb have about 1000 miles on them. I just put a new 23 gallon rear tank in it and somehow some residue passed threw the filter and now one of my floats keeps getting stuck open.

I have the same one from your photos, the analog system. I also bought the closed loop system and dual tank kit. The closed loop box added the oxygen sensor. I had about $850 into mine when this was the "new system". Needless to say this was a while back.

I sent the box back to Holley, they tested it and told me that it tested better than many of the new boxes. I still don't know what that really told me...

I currently run the 4DI which is the direct predicessor to the commander series. Both the 4DI and the Commanders are good, but I would suggest using a Ford system. Far easier to integrate and install, much more documentation, many more people that have the knowledge to help you out...... Just better all around.

What would I expect to pay for a Ford system and is finding a new or used the best way to go?

Blue72, I've run that exact analog system in the pics for about 6 years with NO issues. I've run it at a lot of different altitudes from 14,000 to whatever Lake Powell is, and alot of different temps -10-110. Maybe I got lucky, who knows?

I ran that older Holley on my '77 for six years, three shops and a thousand headaches later I put a truck avenger on last week. Back in heaven, wouldn't wish that projection torture on anyone.

PS: I'll sell you mine for cheap if you want to play with it, I'm talking almost free.
