They also make some trick looking hold downs for Optima batterys. You can find em on ebay or at summit racing, if you're into that sort of thing. If not, rope works!!!
Man I go away for a week and optima is back in already. LOL I would do some searches on hear for some long discussion about batteries. you can get a decent Optima, but it is a crap shoot. I would go either with the Intimidator or the Sears Platinum (rebadged Odyssey). My warranty rate on the Deka Intimidator is below 1%, even when Optima was a good battery their return rate was over 10%.
I had wondered why you hadn't posted in this thread. If a thread involves batteries, alternators, or starters RRRAAAYYY always has something good to say.

I won't buy another Optima. I've had yellow and red tops over the years and they didn't cycle well. Maybe for a daily driver that gets charged through driving often. I bought a Deka Intimidator this last time and it's great. My rig sits for extended periods and also runs the winch to the point of draining the battery and it the Deka is holding up. It's my choice.
I've ran the same Optima yellow top for about 7 years now (switching EBs a few times) & it still seems like new. I hated paying up for it but it's been good. Just went & bought the Die-Hard Platinum Marine for the boat yesterday. It has a Merc 454 & a 5 way Alpine amp hooked up to it already ;D $189 though...ouch!
the older optimas were good, i've got one that's 7 years old and no problems. but everyone that i've had or seen in the last 5 years lasted about 2 years.

I have the same story. Bought a red top Optima from COSTCO about 6 years ago when they were $99. I have left it unused for over a year while in Iraq, and drained it dead twice that I can remember. Always comes back to life and keeps going with a jump. Not sure what I am going to do when it dies due to the recent Optima experiences.....
