Painting final color over POR 15

I’ve looked at several older threads about needing to scuff the POR15 when applying color you want. Nobody mentioned anything about type of paint or primer to cover the POR15 with. I guess I’m wanting to know whether I needed to pick a particular type (urethane, lacquer, etc) primer/paint.
Thanks for any suggestions, advice and/or wisdom.

Pretty good question. Don’t remember much talk about it over the years.
You might try calling them too, even if you get answers here it wouldn’t be bad to have theirs to throw in the mix.

You only scuff totally dried POR. The company makes a product you can spray/brush on totally dry (cured) POR then you can paint over it.
It accepts almost all kinds of paint types- laquers, enamals, etc.

Call them. I'm totally out of date as I was a dealer back in the days when you couldn't buy POR in a retail store.

I scuffed it with a 400 grit on my DA sander and epoxy primed my entire vehicle. I had brushed por15 in all my seams.

@DirtDonk : I’ve got their contact information. Will def give them a call.

@nvrstuk : mine POR 15 will be very dry by the time I actually get to paint. So no worries about sanding.

@rjrobin2002 : I’ll have to hand sand a lot of the bed as my air sander won’t fit.

All good advice and many thanks. At some point I’ll figure out how to make a build thread and post pics.

Thanks everyone for your time and words of encouragement and wisdom. I’m gonna buy some gloss black POR and its thinner and do a serious spray to get it sealed up.

If and when you do spray POR, make sure you have a real good respirator/filter. That stuff brushes on really good but when sprayed has a bad result on your lungs if inhaled.

They have a primer to spray (or brush) right over POR-15.

Also have a self etching primer spray, which goes on thinner than the high build.

This is a 79 TG, but you get the idea.
The light blue areas is the high build primer over POR-15.

@bronkenn : have a decent respirator with the chemical, so think I’m good there.

@Madgyver : clarify, please. Do you mean [no epoxy primer under color] OR do you mean [ NO, don’t spray epoxy primer over POR-15] $$$$
