Painting old 'rhino-liner' surface

The PO of my bronco rhino-lined the interior some time ago and then when he did some paint prep work he got all the paint drift into the bed and on the liner. Thus what should be a nice black rhino lined surface has a nice red haze over it. Can I paint over the rhino lined surface at all to make it a good solid flat black agin? The surface is fairly smooth and isn't the really rough bedliner type product.

thanks,
dan

You should contact your local rhinoliner dealer, I am sure they could either give you the right product for removing the paint, or give you a good deal on putting an additional layer of rhino over the top of the old.

I would think that painting over it would be a bad idea.

Good luck.

if the rhino is anything like my durabak, i was able to wipe some overspray out with some laquer thinner. these linings are impervious to most solvents so a little thinner shouldn't hurt. at least is didn't bother my durabak any.

I would just buy a gallon of durabak for 80 bucks and put a thin layer over the whole thing. Since your old liner is fairly smooth and i am assuming you would prefer more texture redoing it would be the best way to get an even look. your PO probably did a cheap DIY liner.

Herculiner makes a UV topcoat and restoration paint. It is black and stays nice and gloosy under abusive conditions. It just goes right over the top!

I talked to a rhino liner dealer the other day about doing my duck boat and wanted OD green, he said it was a fully paintable surface, but you would lose some slip restance.. talked like it was very common to paint it..
