Painting Stock Replacement Bumpers

Purchased stock replacement bumpers with the e-coating. I would like to paint them white. Professionals are quoting $370-$450 for the pair.

Can I just rattle can them? What would be the steps? Scuff with red pad, clean, couple of coats or paint? What type of paint? Maybe Rustoleum "Hammered?"

My rig is a 50-footer, looks good from 50' feet, so I'm not sure if I should spend the money for a professional or just do it myself considering they're just going to get nicked up anyway.

Any insight is appreciated.

I did my dash and glovebox with a can of Rustoleum. I think it worked great!

Regardless of what you use to paint it prep is key. Cleanliness is godliness. After roughing the surface make sure you give it a good wipe down with lint free cloths until they come off clean. Then I always find a light coat followed by a heavier coat gives good results.

X2, prep is key. Also, make you wait about 4-5 days if you want to do more coats. The paint will bubble up if you try to do a coat after it sits about an hour or so. Either get coats on right away, or wait several days.

(there’s some white w/a lill tan in it, not quite wimbolton). If U wanna put in a lill more $ and up the results cover the last coat w/the clear (I like matte).
I used top shelf (U dont need to & may B satisfied as is but I have v e r y rough & work/not rec situations for this 1). I used the expensive K2 paint (has
the lill button on the bottom U pop B4 using top spryer). K2 is body paint, kinda next generation (after enamal epoxy), & used at manafacturer’n body shops...
googled it 4 U:
“...2K paints are often used in car body shops and other situations where a more durable and hard-wearing paint is needed, which retain colour very well. You don't generally need 2K paint for general wear..."

I’d say bumpers’n a dash are those places for this. Line up the work as I dont recall but think once U pop the button U cant reuse 1/2 done cans. Hit a valve cover or other to finish off the can...
