Parking brake cables

My latest acquisition is a 72 that’s been sitting a while. I’ve gone through the brakes(drum) and have the adjusted properly, etc. I noticed when trying to get the parking brake adjusted today that one cable is approx 1.5 inches longer than the other at the equalizer rod. I pull both rear drums and looked over the brakes and p brake multiple times. They’re both Installed correctly so I’m at a loss at this point.
Any ideas out there? I can’t imagine one cable has stretched 1.5 inches.

How new is the longer one? I got a replacement and it was longer than the original. That is all the help I can give you. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. It doesn’t look new but I guess it’s possible. I’ll see if I can cut it down but doubtful if I don’t have the right crimping tool to put an end back on.

Passenger side cable is longer because it needs to go over to the driver side where the park brake lever is. Maybe you have them swapped?

Yes to what Viperwolf said. & I used to won a parts store bak in the days.
& Back in the days 1967+ IT seemed that some cables were no longer available. SO We ordered anything we could get . & Guys put them on & added an item that pulled slack out of them.
.. Then as our Broncos & some other rides got back in Grace.SOMEONE began to make them again. & There are a few DOT Places that can cusyom make anything.
