I think I broke the parking pawl on my 74 C4. Have reverse 1 2 3. When I put it in park still rolls. I was told you can remove the pan and valve body to get to it. I did that and I not seeing the pawl. I have watched a couple of videos and it looks like you need to get at it from the end. I could use some help.

I'd first check the shifter linkage at the tranny and make sure everything is engaging and adjusted correctly before going into the tranny.

You can check the parking pawl linkage by removing the pan and valve body, but the pawl itself is under the governor, at the back of the trans. You’ll have to remove the T/C obviously.

Not only this but you would need to completely disassemble the C4 to get to the pawl. Output shaft needs to come out before the governor distributor can come off.

I'm a huge proponent of using the e-brake on all my automatics for this very reason!!

Unfortunately, been there done that... and as Viper noted above you have to completely disassemble the C4 to change out the pawl:( sorry. Good news, it's a one day job...

sprdv1 had this issue starting out at OCBR, but it cleared up and I think he lost reverse? Can't recall for sure, but it all points to wear somewhere in the tranny as far as I'm concerned. Gotta get it all apart and find the "spot" that reveals the actual problem. I think whoever designed these transmissions (including the 4r70w and probably every other auto) to have the output shaft non-removable from the rear needs to be shot. I shouldn't have to rebuild my trans just because I want to go to a different type of t-case! (Mark this as a form of protest--just not in a street.)
