Does anyone have the part number for
  • PS v-belt
  • Alt v-belt
  • PS low pressure hose
  • PS high pressure hose

Does it make a difference if asking at the parts store for 75 or 77 302?

I have non stock alternator and non stock ps pump and brackets. I had to really work to get the right size belts but I have them now. If yours is stock you should not have trouble but if not you may be making a few trips. Belts are pretty cheap. Their number system usually has their length in it. You could buy one that is too big and cut it. Measure it and then find out how much needs to be removedoved to make it fit.

I got lucky and bought 3 belts and one fit. I returned the other 2.

Stock hose should fit stock pump. If you switched to saginaw pump you may need an adapter unless the pump has one (like from Tom's). During you build you should consider an aux ps fluid cooler if you have big tires.

if you have everything stock, they should have the belt numbers in the computer. '73 was the first year for PS, so any year after that should work.

are all your brackets stock, or do you have a saginaw pump witht he welded steel bracket? if you have the saginaw, the PS belt needs to be 1" longer than stock

The Napa pump is supposed to be a direct replacement pump for the Thompson or plastic housing Ford pump. I would try a stock Brocno PS belt. It should fit. All the parts you need should be straight out of the parts book for a 73 up Bronco with power steering.

cool...thanks Will the NAPA pump last long with 35 tires, since it is a replacement for the ford pump?

But I got to thinking about what airman said. How would I know if it needed to be longer or shorter if both alt and PS have a adjuster slot in the bracket?

Just look where it bolt ends up in the adjustment slot when you get it on. Any where between the center of the adjustment slot and the end closest to the water pump should be fine.

I have been running that style pump on my RV for the last 26 years and have had no problems. It has a 5000# axle in the front with 19.5 by 8 inch wide tires and no cooler. I have had a spare pump on the shelf for at least 10years and have never needed it.

If you go to Napa you might get a filter to go inside the return line for the PS pump. I think think the number is FLT1A but I am not sure. It is on a blue card and is white in color. It looks like a long straw with tiny holes in it.

If you cut off the return line in your previous post make sure you have something on the end of the tube retain the hose. The ridge on the end of the tube is there to keep the hose from sliding off not necessarily sealing.
Power steering return hose is usually 300psi rated hose so there may be enough pressure in the line to blow off the line when the rubber gets warm and soft. The PS cans in the previous post were free except shipping. I was looking for a perfect one to get chromed. Unfortunately I found several with slight flaws before I found "the" one.

One of the reasons to go get my v-belt today....it might make a difference on the positioning of the pump. Meaning, the belt length migtht dictate that the pump actually rotate toward the hood enough that I don't have to worry about the oil sender.

length of belt will help make the deciison easier.

It will clear if it is a stock aluminum ps bracket. Just put the bolt in the adjustment slot and see where it ends up. The slot controls its movement. I would add a cooler. Cool is always better. I had a Hayden cooler from Pep Boys mounted to the front of the radiato before AC and the pump was always cool enough to hold your hand on. It was about 8 x 10 x 1/2" thick.

got the belt on and the pump needed to be adjusted out ... enough it does not hit the oil sender. Good.

Got a cooler. Now got to get the hoses. On the gear box...do both of the hoses have a fitting that screws into the gear box?

The high pressure hose comes with fittings. It will go on one way only. The return line is just a piece of 3/8 steel line gas you can buy at any auto parts store. It wil have the inverted flare and 5/8-16 nuts on both ends. You will have to cut it to length and bend to suit. Slide the return hose on one end and screw the other end into the steering box. If it is a stock Bronco box it will fit one hole only. The cooler goes in the low pressure line between the steering box and the pump return line you were going to cut.
