Passenger door not opening from outside

Hey Gents,

Quick question, now, forgive me because I haven't actually opened the door up yet but hear me out...

I'm going over to a mechanic friend's shop this weekend for a full runthrough of my new '74 I picked up last weekend. One of the issues I'd like to solve is the passenger door not opening from the outside. Inside, it's golden. It locks, too. However from the outside it just clicks when you push the door release button. As an aside, the window only rolls down about 1/2 way as well which may be related.

My question is, I'm thinking of fixing it w/him but are there parts I can grab to take over there that would likely be the culprit?

It may be too late given it's Thursday but if possible I'd like to just buy what I need to take it over and get her fixed up.

Sorry for simpleton questions I'm still learning...

open the door up and see what is stopping the window. might just be the rod popped out of the handle due to broken plastic rod retainer.
or latch issue is just and adjustment on the rod needed.
no real way of knowing until you take the panel off.
don't be scared. there are only a few parts inside there.
