Passenger Seat Latch Location

I just got the new latch from Tom's and now can't figure out where it goes. I search the forum and found where this has been talked about before, but wanted more clarification.

I do see signs that my rig once had a bulk head installed, but it's a U15 vin. It has a rear seat and the nuts on the underside seem to be factory welded on, leading me to believe it came this way from the factory. Is it possible my bronco had a bench up front, the bulk head and a rear seat??? And that's why I don't have a hole for the latch? Should the latch be behind the seat mount bracket.

This may help. You can see where mine is in relation to the seatbelt and the impression in the carpet from the seat.

If you're trying to install that in the '68 Bronco in your signature line, you won't be able to. That latch was added in 69/70 and earlier Broncos didn't have the holes in the floor for them.

If your passenger seat has the hook for it, you've got a seat from a later Bronco swapped in.

Yes, it's going in a '68 and the seat does have the hook. This all might add up to the original bronco having a bench seat up front with the bulk head. I have the original window sticker, is there a code on it showing bench vs. buckets?

The body code on the VIN tag should tell you. For 66-67 models , if it starts with a 1 it is a benchseat, 7 is buckets, 9 is buckets with a rear seat. I expect that is the same for a 68.

Here is my VIN, which is the body code?

U150 is the model but you are right, it's redundant. Body codes are 96=Roadster, 97=Halfcab, 98=Wagon.

It would even have been conceivable that the truck had a single bucket seat. The passenger seat was an option, so just about any combination could have been had at the time.
The bench was probably more common than just a single bucket, but you never know.

Just like not having a radio wasn't so much a "radio delete" as it was the Bronco just not having been ordered with that option.;D
Kind of interesting/cool though, yours having been a wagon with a bench and a bulkhead AND a rear seat. Wonder what the original owner or the selling dealer had in mind with that one?
Do you know where it was first purchased?

Seems like someone probably just swapped out the bench and bulkhead for buckets and a rear seat. That would explain the later bucket with a latch.

I don't know if a wagon ordered without a rear seat would still have the nuts welded under the rear floor. Maybe they did and the holes were never drilled or were puttied before painting.

Looks like a DSO of 17 which is Washington.

It was sold to Kirk Ford in Hancock MD.
