Soaked the pilot bushing that came with my AA NV3550 conversion kit, went to install but it is real tight. I used a soft hammer but if I hit this thing in I will never get it out... What is the fit typically like ? Are there different sizes ? Thanks

You don't want if falling out, so it's tight. Freeze it so it shrinks a bit first, then use somthing soft to drive it in. Don't forget, your driving your crank forward against the thrust bearing at the same time. Don't hit it directly with a hammer. Block of wood between the two.

Do you think I should wedge between the flywheel and block (slightly) when installing as to not wreck anything ? It is a new motor..

Drive it all the way in, don't worry about getting it back out. There's a hydraulic trick you can use if it ever comes time to remove, it will definitely come back out.

X2 just drive it in. But first make sure it's the right bushing, will fit over the stem of the input shaft of the transmission. then drop it in the freezer overnight or for a few hours at the least, and just drive it in. Use a small hammer and hit it mild and you won't hurt the crankshaft or bearings

Removal trick I like, thread the center of the bushing and run a bolt up in it.

I have seen both. Remove the transmission and the bushing falls out, or had to resort to hydro or threading technique to remove.
