I am thinking of selling my '68 so I can buy a NEW pickup truck. Would like an idea of value. Right now, only pics are in 'my garage'. Bronco is actually in my garage at home, so no new pics until spring time when it goes back outside.

Here is the skinny:

1968 Ford Bronco from the high desert country of SE Oregon. Garage kept 6 months of year (Oct-March) so it hasn't seen any NE Ohio salt since I have owned it - 7 years come next month.

Dark blue with lt gray Rampage soft top (~5 years old JBG). Paint isn't bad, but not a show truck by any means. Only real rust I have noticed is seams of rear quarters where they were replaced before I owned it. Frame and underside has minimal surface rust.

351 Windsor - unknown specifics, New Edelbrock 1410 carb. New air clearner
NV3550 (~25,000 miles) Twin sticks on T-shift Dana 20 Xfer case (JB Fab)
Dana 30 front
Ford 9" rear
5 1/2" suspension lift (has blocks in rear)
Power brakes (TBP)
Power steering upgrade (TBP top of the line kit)
Front Chevy disc conversion last year (Unknown kit)
New rear drum components except actual drums
Bully side steps
33 x 12.5 x 15" Goodyear Duratracs < 500 miles
Unknown brand wheels
RCM front bumper with 8000 lb Smittybuilt winch & synthetic line
RCM rear bumper with swing away spare tire mount -GY Duratrac as others
Fox body Mustang front seats - both sides have lumbar control
3rd row Explorer seats in rear
Kenwood stereo

I am sure there is more.

What it COULD use, depending on desired use:

Wiring harness - everything works, but......ain't purdy!
Paint - presentable for a daily driver
Rear springs to eliminate the 'blocks' - I have had no issues, but.....
Front floor pans - I have both sides, never installed
Carpet
Personal touches

I doubt I have put more than 500 miles on it in 7 years.....odometer shows 75,369 miles, which according to the title should be good.

Also have original style rear seat (sold the matching fronts last year)
And, Explorer front buckets if you are shorter - sit higher - match rear seats
And, Mustang hydroboost and complete hydrolic line kit (would be this years project if I don't end up selling)

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks, Pops

That Bronco is worth more every day, as I'm sure you know. That new pickup will depreciate as soon as you drive it off the lot. My advice-keep the Bronco and buy a used pickup....

Great looking ride. I bought mine from the high desert in central Oregon too, from a guy who sold it to buy a new pickup. Yours would look good rubbing elbows with my red one in my garage! Hmmm, yes, a his and hers sounds great, as she likes my red one more than I do.

Thanks for the few comments.

Those in favor of me keeping it, my reasoning is as follows:

My current truck is a 2007 Tundra with 96,000+ miles on it. No major issues to this point - YET. Bought it used with ~ 63,000 on it 7 years ago.

A NEW Tundra or Tacoma (5mpg better) is $38-$40,000. A newer, used Tundra or Tacoma with lower mileage is at least $28,000.

My truck is worth $15,000 +/- KBB.

I will be 60 in less than a month.

Retired 2+ years ago but still have to work part time (travel involved) to make ends meet. 2 kids in college, too!

A truck is a NECESSITY to me.......Bronco is a LUXURY!!! I think less than 500 miles driven since March 2010.

Bottom line, I can't really afford a NEW payment with my budget, so PRACTICALITY sets in and the Bronco will go - ONLY if it generates enough along with the Tundra's value to end up with NO monthly payment or one around $100 or so.

Thanks, guys.......still hoping someone will throw out a price range/value for me. I know in the NE, it is difficult to find one with minimal rust.

Totally understand big guy. My 2 oldest are just about out of college, so the $$ is not quite as tight as it used to be

That day will come for you and you can get back into one Good luck

Your 10 year old Tundra has another 10 yrs in it easy...my family have owned Toyota trucks since 1986 and not one has had any significant problems (none of them were in areas that use salt though!)

I had my 2006 Tundra for 10 years and a Toyota executive told me that the 2004-2006 Tundras were getting 500k miles because they were the last of the 'cast iron blocks' he said. Toyota also had a recall and took the bed off my Tundra and cleaned/scraped the frame and covered with ??I don't know what product they used but it took 2 weeks to dry.

Anyway my point is they are good quality vehicles and Toyota stands behind them...I don't think the miles on your truck should concern you.

Don't forget the 8% tax on that new ride either :(

This brings me back to conversations I've had with my wife about selling "Bertha" in order to pay bills and maybe get a newer truck. She always talks me "off the ledge". Best of luck with your decision.

From the pictures it looks like a great driver.
Since you asked, I would guess to the right buyer, 17-22k. But, what the hell do I know.lol
Just my quick feeling of the market from the pictures and descriptions.
Good luck on your decision.

hylndr and BBastard:

Thanks for the evaluations.......I know it is tough without good pics. They will come next month. At least you guys offered me something!!

The seams are not bad...bubbled (?), but not through the paint. I have lived with the floor pans for 7 years and have the replacement panels.

Maybe I'm missing something but unless there is some other major underlying issue with your Toyota, 96K is nothing and as mentioned should get you through several more years. It is still much cheaper keeping your TOY and putting money into it for misc repairs than even a used car payment. Keep the TOY and keep the Bronco.
Drive the TOY into the ground is your best bet to keep costs down. When it does die, see where your at financially and only sell the Bronco then and if needed.

Dave: The idea of selling the Bronco would be to end with ZERO payments or as an absolute MAXIMUM $100/month.

That is why I have stated several times, if I can't get enough from the sale + my Tundra value to get either a new or less than 30,000 mile truck in great shape, I wont be selling.

New Tundra or Tacoma should give me no worries for years - I don't want to be nickel and dimed to death as the current one ages. I also don't want to drive a 'beater' either.

Well, decided to keep Jo Pa........can't afford the new/used truck I would like without having to add a new monthly payment to the budget.

Thanks, guys for both the input and interest in buying it.

Time to keep spending $$$$ on it!!!!!

Good choice! Sounds like your Tundra will last you quite a while longer with good maintenance and like others have said a brand new truck is not only very expensive but drops in value as soon as you drive away. The bronco on the other hand is constantly increasing in value!

Actually never went to trade in my Tundra.....just blue-booked it to get an idea of what to dicker on. Couldn't find the right combination of color and options on a Tacoma that I wanted and could afford. Toyota dealers - around here at least - don't deal alot on their trucks.......kinda like 'take it or leave it' and the next guy in line will take it if you leave it.

Nice looking truck! i would have voted to keep it, but watching the values, i am guessing it is up to 25 - 35k depending on actual condition and the right buyer
.
I had mine in a shop here in LA with everything stripped out and barely running and a guy offered me $25k for it.

Besides a toy its an investment that you will never loose money on unless you go absurdly crazy with aftermarket parts on.
