I'm looking to upgrade to disc brakes on all for corners and add power brakes. I see a lot of guys using hydroboost but I see that all the vendors also sell power brake boosters. Which is a better system?

Hydroboost or power brakes booster

I've been told that the problem with the hydroboost is that in the case the car shoot off(in a descent for example) it will be more difficult to control and to apply the brakes, they will be unresponsive. Is that true. Calling the experts. That's why I'm still undecided.

I am not sure about this but I have heard Hydro Boost brakes with the engine not running feel like manual brakes. I would also like to find out.

Doesn't the hydro loose its power each time you apply the brakes after the engine is shut off? Meaning there is a reserve of assistance in a hydro boost unit. I swore i read hear that being able to apply the brakes after the engine died was a benefit of a hydro system. Of course you loose the reserve more and more each time the brakes would be applied after the engine is off. Not saying they will be 100% assistant but more so than a loss of vacuum on that type of system.

It's only good for one maybe two pumps of the brakes. It's no different than vacuum brakes. They both then become manual brakes and don't forget, without the engine running you immediately have manual steering. If I had a choice between one pump left of vacuum or hydro I would take the hydro hands down! I have 42's and hydro and it stops as good as my Honda Civic.

I am liking the hydroboost.
I've had manual brakes forever so although the hydroboost is likely better either one will be a huge improvement for me, maybe you too.

If I had no power brakes and wanted to add them the Hydro would be the way to go for sure. I have the factry booster and it works just fine with 35s... The type of pads has a lot to do with it. I installed ceramic pads and it wouldnt stop... went to a more metallic pad and it stops like a new car.

After a 3G alternator, hydroboost is the best modification ever.
