I do on everything. I think it is necessary. It doesn’t take much. For most applications I find this to be enough. Can’t take credit for the idea, Ford did them this way on several cars and trucks. The fan wash creates enough cooling to make it work sufficiently. It’s a tiny cooler as well.

I also find a filter in the return line to be a necessity as well.

Stock 73 with 302 had a 2 inch long radiator on the pump. It now has an F450 superduty cooler under bumper.

I've had some lightly cooked oil very soon after putting power steering on. Before I got one installed. Always run one.
Never ran a huge one. Even Ford did some very primitive coolers, long piece of hard line either bent into loops or serpentine. The factory Bronco coolers were right on the pump getting hot air after the radiator. My newer ¾ton van has a very simple tube and fin cooler. It doesn't take much, but you really should have something.

In my part of the country I'm not sure that it's possible to over-cool a power steering system. I run a cooler on everything. The OEM tube with a buncha bends in it on the FSB has recently been proven to not be enough with only Hydro-Boost added. So soon as I decide on what cooler it will be getting a more effective one.

On the Wagon I used this cooler: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-33601 and mounted it like this:

Always...cooler fluid means longer fluid life which should also mean longer pump and steering gear life.
