I recently purchased the Wildhorses quick ratio steering kit. I was installing it when I found my lower steering shaft was cracked and is probably going to be unusable. I was looking at the new replacement steering shafts, but coming in at 200+ I was hoping somebody could give me a compatible truck that I could can some parts off of from the local junk yard. It's for a 74 with no body lift...

Thanks for the help!

There's not much that compares that I've found in a junkyard nothing bolt in anyways. Might try looking at 70's-80's ch#vy trucks they have a shaft that might be useable I believe it has rag joints on both ends so you can cut one off to the lenght you need and install your ujoint. or Just press off your rag joint end and weld a new shaft on I believe its 3/4" should be able to pick some of that up at a local hardware store for cheap

just get a piece of tube and make one. the diameter on my 66 was 3/4"

I had thought of making one, but I wasnt sure about the splined end that goes into the rag joint. Suppose a matchine shop could do it? Also, it looks like the new shaft is going to have to be about three inches longer than the original due to the new geomitry of my new box. Not sure what WH whats me to do with my original upper shaft/steering colum to make the OE work... the instructions they sent with this thing reads like stereo instructions! I should of sprung for the kit that comes with the new lower shaft. Somebody tell me im not the only one! Every project I start on my truck is ritteled with "hold-ups" and nothing seems to want to fit "just right"! LOL!
