Preliminary Wiring Diagram

Here's the first draft of my wiring layout. This is a relative drawing and by no means to scale. The switch panel, cb and map lights will all go into an overhead console. The switches will all operate the ground side of a relay. Momentary switch for the starter with a keyed power switch. All waterproof. The switch panel will lock as well for easy access and theft resistance. Will probably put the horn button back into the steering column. Single speed wipers for simplicity.

Anyway, this is just a preliminary drawing, what i've been thinking about. It'll give me space on the dash for all the fun guages and speakers i could want.

looks OK - are you running individual grounds or are you grounding body and do then making the connections to the body where it needs?

Curious as to the location of the fuel pump. Aren't electric pumps better at pushing than pulling?

And...
What's the benefit of relays on the ground side?

plan on grounding the body. Hadn't thought bout it, but running individual grounds might be more reliable.

The fuel pump is put there for convieniance, i didn't want to spend a lot of time putting it back near the tank. I figured it would work since the mechanical was that far from the tank, so far no problems. Also, its a carter 4070 and i've heard they are bulletproof.

Not sure if there is a real advantage to using the switches to open or close the ground to the relay, its just something i heard a while back. I suppose you could run the power to the relay through the switches too. Maybe RRRRRAAAAAAAYYYYYY will shed some light on the topic.

After frying some of my wiring harness, the rewire has been moved up on the priority list. This is the new simplified version showing only existing circuits. Figuring on cutting up the ash tray and putting the block behind there. Also, planning on using EZwire harness from ebay ~$150. I solder connections all day at work, so no biggie there.
