Another Problem I have run into is air leaking by the spark splugs when I turnover the engine. Anyone else had this problem? I am beginning to hate Aluminum heads for their sensitive holes that are tapped. Anyway, I guess I will try some thread tape and see if that seals it.

Make sure you have the correct spark plugs for your heads I've run aluminum heads for about 8 years and have never had that problem not sure I'd put teflon tape on the plugs it will probalby burn out anyways just verify that you have the correct plugs or helicoil all the threads.

I actually ended up using some loctite medium grade and that did hte trick... hopefully when it runs there will not be any issues.

Do you know what kind of compression I should be getting for a 302 on a compression test?

Anyone out there know what year box this is... or what kind of fittings I need. I can't seem to crack this code.

Alright... so even after going to Nissan... GM... Carquest... hydaulic shop...

Nissan said it was a GM part... but they were wrong. I finally found out information on my box. It is a box out of a 3.3L 2000 to 2003 4x4 Xterra. I ordered new hoses from Nissan for 30 bucks with shipping. I will take them to Napa and have new hoses made. I got the box freshly rebuilt for 100 bucks, hoses will probably cost 50. And the drop pitman arm that came with my Cage 3.5 inch kit fits on the shaft. So it looks like I will have pretty damn strong power steering setup for 150 bucks. Not bad.

IT'S ALIVE!!! But sounds like a piece of sh*t

All,

After 40 full years of being around this great earth... my bronco finally has a V8 for a heart... that runs.

With wires covering the entire engine I got the engine to start after about 30 attempts. It ran horribly and cackled like a son of a gun, but it did run. My timing is way off. It runs better when I rotate the distributor clockwise, but I can't turn it any further. I guess I need to pull it out rotate the entire distributer counter-clockwise, then put it back in.

Also, I still can't get a service engine light to work right. I have tried it hooked to the green plug by the EEC, and in the third slot on the test plug, but with no luck. Anyone?

Jeff,

Do you have a stock pitman arm to try on the Nissan shaft? I've been trying to decide between the Nissan box and the 4x4x2 box, and I thought I'd have to get the Nissan sector shaft resplined to accept the Ford pitman arm. I'd love to find that set up for $150.

I guess I'll have to start calling the junk yards and see how much a Nissan P/S box is. If I could find one out of a 2003 it shouldn't have that much wear on it.

Thanks,

Galen

Galen, My Pathfinder box has a sector shaft that is .200" larger than the EB so I elected to splice the two together . As my EB is not lifted , a drop was not needed and I kept it the same C-C length . After making a template of what I needed , I proceeded to cut both arms in a >> fashion , I then ground a bevel on both sides for 100% penetration and ran a heliarc root pass and capped it with 7018. I then wrapped a 3/8 x 1/2 MS flat stock around the whole thing and welded it in place just for my peace of mind but probably not needed. After a wet-mag inspection , it looked good and it has been in service for about 5000 miles . I think mine cost me 100 bucks and a six pack at the salvage yard. Hoses ,brackets, bolts, a Borgeson joint and pulleys added up to another $150-200. I used a late Ford pump and it seems to work OK but a bit noisy in hot weather so at least I'll try a cooler on it before I go to a Saginaw pump.

I used a drop pitman that was for the stock bronco steering box. It doesn't fit all the way down on the shaft, but enough to get the bolt on nice and tight. I opted to try this rather than messing with the stock nissan pitman. If it breaks... it breaks. I can find another one for 150 bucks.

Twinstick installed

Got a twinstick for Christmas, but had some issues. I ended up drilling and tapping hole above the one that was already supplied by AA. A couple of washers and I am good to go.

Btw, the engine is running great. Anything over 3000 RPMs, and I can't bear the noise even with ear plugs.

Cut my Bronco in half today.

So I cut the old bronco in half today. It was a sad day for the 66 tub that had made 40 years in one piece, but it had to be done. I bought a front tub piece from a guy in NM, so I will be welding and patching the rear and front together. I do have an issue with the rear body mounts. I have them right where they need to be, but the body mount is sitting almost a full inch away from the metal on the body...? As you can see the bed is resting on the frame, but there is still a large gap between the mody mount washer and the bed. Some help please.

Poor 66. :'( Well at least one died to save another. ;) I can tell in your pic but do you have the poly body mount bushing itself in place? The bushings are about an inch thick and will fill that space. Or am I just not seeing it right?

The body mounts I bought are from Daystar. They come in two pieces, one for above the frame and one for below the frame. The one for above the frame is about 1 inch thick, but the gap from the frame to the bed is about 2 inches. So am I missing a piece. The mounts in front of these mounts sit flush with the bed with no problems.

SS

Sound right to me. Mine are the same way. I don't know what the problem is then. Is anything else interfering with the body? Not allowing it to sit all the way down?

Bought another Bronco! Couldn't wait to do the body work, so I threw in the towel

So I bought another bronco. Please don't hate me for giving up on the old U14 66, but I want to have something to have fun in this summer. So here she is, another 66... but a U13. Still has a 6 cylinder that I will part out with the frame and everything underneath the body. Everything is going right onto the frame I have now with the 5.0 Fuel Injection setup. I still need to do the disc brake swap and finish the power steering lines... but then I can swap her over.

Anyone intested in a running 1966 rolling chassis with a 6 cylinder... thought so.

Outside of St. Louis, but I am back and fourth between STL and KC pretty frequently and could plan some time to stop by and lend a hand.

Man did I get f*cked

So I get a call today from the dealership that sold me "my new bronco". They tell me that they sold the bronco to someone else for more money. After I got off the phone yesterday at 2:30 pm Colorado time, the deal was done... now they tell me sorry we f*cked you.

This is after I put all my other broncos parts on ebay. What luck.

If anyone lives in Canyon City, Colorado... go to Faricy Ford and ask for Luke the Sales Manager... take a sh*t on his desk and then ask him how it feels. I will pay someone for their time.

Not something I normally do...

Thats a real pisser what Faricy Ford did to you. It just seemed to strike a nerve with me so I found their contact info...

http://www.faricyford.com/faricy/contact.php

... and left a very mature  message for our buddy Luke. I figure if they get 1,000 calls tonight it will at least catch somebodies attention and make a point.
