Spent the afternoon in the garage today before heading out for Thanksgiving with family. The pile of rubber in front of the tires is off 4 new(used to be anyway) TSLs waiting on a beater project. I had forgotten how long it takes to groove a set of tires!

Do you groove them for more flex/traction? How big a difference does it make? Surprised that Interco doesn't off them pre-grooved if it makes that much difference, or is tire grooving a matter of personal preference? At any rate they look cool and those Krawlers as well.

I did that with the SSR's with a $30 groover I got from Speedway. Once you got into it it you could get into a pretty good 'groove'(no pun intended) but it was still tedious. It explains why I'm not a line worker in a factory!!!!!

My TSL/SX's are grooved. It makes a HUGE difference in traction, but it's a PITA to do.
x2 :) The grooves give the tire a bit more "flex/gription" with the lugs when they contact stuff. The BB in the pic beside my eb is on 44"TSLs and they are grooved as well-the rubber pile was a bit larger when we finished.
There are numerous threads on Pirate re. groove patterns-some folks remove entire lugs on the TSLs. My pattern is a "Dan Dibble" pattern. It worked great on the 44s so I tried it on the 42s
Mark, here is a link to the guy I got my iron from-: His name is Randy
