PS high pressure hose thread size?

Looking on line at Autozone for a high pressure PS hose and I had to look up a 77 to even find the part, there is no listing for a 71. I know my PS was installed as a complete conversion and was not a factory option on my EB but I need to order a PS high pressure hose. I'm going to have the high pressure line modified for the 6n fitting but want to leave my current set up complete so I can keep driving it. Plus I can sell the the PS set up minus the box when I swap to the explorer serp set up.

Are all the PS hoses the same for all EB years, 66-77?

read posts further done to get an update. Looking to find out for sure what the thread size is on the back of a stock PS pump. I've also confirmed that I have a stock conversion kit from bronco graveyard, part #012890.

Go to a real auto parts store and they can make you the hose you need in minutes. Know the ends you need and length and done!

and which way the fittings point, don't forget that little detail, i use a bent up coathanger wire to show how it needs to look, also, that also gives you dimensions

Power steering was only avalible from 73-77 so thats why it wasnt listed under a 71. That can be one of the issues with older broncos and conversions you have to know what conversion was done and what year so you can get the correct parts. It can be very hard to get parts for some conversions that use parts that were never factory installed as a complete set in any vehicle so sometimes you have to get parts made custom

I found the part under the 77 model EB and I can order it however it's a special order so I wanted to make sure the hoses were all the smae before ordering the hose. It's a stock EB PS set up on my EB. I have paper work from when it was installled. I only searched for a 71 on autozone because I didn't know what year PS was offered in.

I have been looking for an adapter to convert the inverted flare to a 6n fitting but 7/16 seems to be an odd ball size and there are no adapters to be found, yet. So I can have the steel line on the stock PS hose flared for a 6n fitting for free, just need a new hose to do it.

It looks like I could buy a fuel line adapter fitting to fit the 3/8 SAE end of the PS line but I think this would look kind of cheap under the hood. If I'm going to go this route i may as well make it look as clean as I can.

I will also be having the same friend who lives in Ohio make my lines for the hydro boost conversion. Trying to keep my cost down as low as I can.

I need to order a few other things from a vendor so I may just order the line as well when I place the order instead of buying t at a local parts store.

Where is that 7/16 thread inverted flare again? That's a small line (1/4"?) ..Aeroquip does make that in a 4AN male to inverted 7/16-20..but not in 6AN.

According to the bronco vendor I linked to earlier in this post it says the line end that mounts to the PS pump is 7/16 and I too have only found the 7/16 to 4n but not a 6n.

I need to wait on my plate to arrive and mount the hydro boost unit and see how the stock PS line fits and I may be able to get the fuel line adapter to work on the steering box end of the stock PS line. If this works it would save the cost of having a custom line made plus if that line failed it could be replaced again by another stock PS line.

I thought about looking to see if I can adapt a 7/16 fitting to some other fitting that would end up with a 6n fitting on the end but I would have two fittings sticking off the back of the pump. For now i will wait till I mount the hydr unit and go from there.

After a little research and learning I now understand your post better. So something isn't right or the EB's used a very special size.

This page says it should be 9/16 for a 3/8 OD line.

So now I'm really confused and need to find a shop local so I can try to pin point what I have and what I need.

I dug out the paper work I got with the bronco and I have a stock PS set up. it was a stock conversion from bronco graveyard. Just need to confirm the thread size on the back of the PS pump.

I will check with the local napa store when I get to that side of town and see what they charge and or can do. it would be nice if they can make a like to mate to the factory PS pump and have the 6n on the other end for the hydro boost.

What I have been trying to do is get an understanding of the SAE and inverted flare fittings. I thought I had an understanding of it but I'm still lost. I won't search any more and will pick the brain of whom ever I speak with at the local NAPA store and hope I can get a little eduction on the matter.
