Broncobilly 69 made the mention that an engine oil cooler with a fan on it might help get my temp. down. Anyone got any preferences on oil coolers. Feedback? thanks ;D

The factory ford coolers have always been good to me. You can get them at the ford dealer, they order it from the Motorsports/SVO Catalog. ABout $125.00.

I ran one off a Mercuer xr4ti for a while. It was more for running the right oil temperture then cooling the engine.

I have one off of an 80-something RX7. All aluminum and built like a brick sh!thouse. Has a built-in thermostat and bypass so it won't over-cool your oil when it's cooooooooooold out. The only downside is the input/output are banjos. I just cut the hose off and brazed some an-6's onto the tube coming out of the banjos.

Adding an oil cooler would be pretty easy. One option is to get a remote mount oil filter and then add a cooler into the same line. If you want to put a fan on it then I would look at a small tranny cooler. Otherwise a small Ford power steering cooler would probably work good.

Just about any oil cooler will work. Like Rick said, since you will be running lines for the cooler go ahead and install a remote filter mount (or better yet, dual). You can find coolers of just about any size and shape as well as remote filter setups on Ebay pretty cheaply.

I just got a heavy duty oil cooler, lines and adapter directly from the Flex-a-lite factory for less than half price. Got the dual filter mount with hose fittings for about $15 on Ebay. So, for under $125, I get thermostatically regulated and VERY clean oil. Plus, more of it (better still).

I used a pemacool. It was the best one I could afford and is really high quality. But it diddnt bring my temp down at all. I figured that I could mount it anywhere since it had a fan on it so I put it under the hood forward of the left wheel well. even with the fan on it diddnt do much. I would try to mount it somewhere else but I have a new B.C. radiator on the way.

I don't have mine installed yet, but look for the ones that came on the Ford Crown Vic cop cars w/small block V8s. Very nice machined aluminum piece that sandwiches between the block and where you screw your oil filter on. The lines are similar to what we use on the p/s and h-boost pressure lines with the nice fabric-braided lines with re-useable AN lines. You can use about any stacked plate cooler with them too, like Saddleup noted.

And again, per my usual preferences, you can get them cheap at junkyards.
