A buddy of mine is running a set of RCV's in His Heep...... after installing them He hade a wheel bearing go bad after only 3 mounths . When he took the large wheel nut off it Fawked the threads on the stub shaft ( only 1) He called down to RCV to talk to them about this and the Guy on the Phone told Him He was sending a new set out for Him ( shipping was covered By them ). 4 weeks later He gets a drop at His door, Not only did they ship the outer stubs But the hole set Inners ,bells ,and outters  , He calls back to RCV to tell them they may have made a mistake ! the Guy tells Him that it was a design flaw in the axle Nute and thread (not a safty thing it just fawks the nut and outer 5 or 6 threads) and that He was Happy that My buddy had called to let them know. He asked RCV do You want Me to ship the other axles back, the Guy tells Him to ship FedX okay ....a few days later He calls RCV back and tells the Guy We don`t seem to have a Fedx in our small ``land Locked`` town ! So the Guy at RCV said to Him to Just Keep them !! and if You can sell them to a buddy then do it  for His trouble. Now that is awsome PR for RCV .I`d buy them in a Heart beet .

With slugs, will you have to run a selectable locker? How will it drive on the street with the front always locked in??
I have a detroit in the front of My Bronco (dana 60) and I can run the hwy all day long with the hubs or slugs in . As long as the Tcase is out of 4x4 Your good to go ;)

I saw 2 of these axles break at the roundup this year... lots of money for smooth steering.. they still break....

Yeah Dave you should talk to Hardy about his and see if hes still happy. He was the one that broke both sides at different points of the day.

he is going a different route now.. building a 609, be nice to see it in action in the near future.

I'll be posting his "built" Dana 44 on here for him, once he sends me all the Specs.

I have no idea if these are even applicable to what you guys are talking about, but when I got my parts off of a 75 Chevy 4x4 for the disc conversion, I was told to go ahead and get the front axels also because guys like to use these because they are beefyer. I am not going to use them, would they help any of you? I dont want to make any money off them. My cost plus shipping if interested.

for the price of those shafts I'd put the cash towards a HPD60.

After going D60 I would have rather kept the D44 and gone RCV... There is a lot involved getting a D60 under an EB and functioning properly, but in the end everything breaks - I killed a D60 stub shaft with 37" boggers last year.

That's the answer I was looking for as well. I see RCVs in my future. Thanks

Told Dave this yesterday. For the rest of you considering the rcvs, get the slugs. I've had a lot of trouble with the warn hubs backing off. Othwise I really like the axles.

Yep. At first I thought the guys were screwing with me. The left one would just slowly back off. Indent is not enough to hold it in place. Swapped sides and the left would back off because that is the direction of rotation.

I've had them apart several times and tried several things. It comes down to the detent not being deep enough to hold it in place. As well the cheap materials used in the actuator part of the hub. The puck holding the shaft is plenty strong but from there out is just cheap crap. I "fixed" it last year at ocbr by replacing the actuator washer and spring with a piece of PVC pipe. Basically make the hub into a slug.

Dave, both Gordon and Jim Creel had some issues in Moab with the unpinned axles. Todd had just put a set in his that were pinned and had no problems at all. I'd say pinned is the way to go.
