Took a trip to the Hammerz this week with another E.B., we gassed up together when we left Gardena and then gassed up again in Hesperia, together neither one of us has an accurate speedo so I can only estimate it was 100 miles, we tached 2000 RPM and drove mild speeds probably no more than 60 MPH, we took it easy because the other E.B. had fresh R&P’s and we were breaking them in so we stopped a few times to let the rear end cool down.
Here are the specs:
5.0 GT-40 Roller crate motor with E.F.I. mated to a Chevy 700r-4 and Dana-20, 5.13 R&P’s, 35x16 SSR’s. He took 5.9 gallons.
5.8 roller, E.F.I. mated to an AOD and an Atlas, 5.13 R&P’s, 37X17 BFG/KM’S. I took 7.1 gallons.
Just posting this for F.Y.I. Later, Francois.

A 351 is worth 1.2 gals anytime....

Sweet engines- I assume the GT40 manifold is the 302, and the "5.0" Cobra manifold is the 351, right? Just checking my calibrated eyeball...

is the rig with the 5.8 and 37"s lifted more? ie taller, so more wind resistance?

Later, Francois.
That's really not very good fuel economy. My 351W gets at least 15MPG, even when I drive like a nut in heavy traffic. It gets closer to 17 with the hard top on it going down the highway. When I drove it to the 35th I got almost 19MPG out of the best tank of gas.
Joe

Once when I had the 5.0 H.O. with EFI mated to the AOD I got 21MPG from Lone pine to Mojave, it was about a 90^ day with no wind and I was doing 80 MPH most of the way.
I doubled & tripled checked my math on that one
