Looking for a cheap bench for my Bronco, was thinking a junkyard seat and was wondering if anyone knew what kind of vehicle would have a seat that would fit? I am pretty sure a Wrangler would work. Anything else I should check, only 1 small junkyard in the area I live. Thanks

The one that got away....

A few summers ago I was talking to my buddy Sean who had a bench just sitting around back in his shop in some property he had, but summer had ended and he didn't have any plans to go out to it for a while.

Well, we agreed on a price but time was the item we left hanging as he wasn't sure when he could get out to get it.

Time passed and spring was coming along and I was itching to get the seat into our Bronco so we could share the fun driving around.. So I called up Sean and he said, "Oh, A friend needed it real fast so he took it.." Well we're friends right, so I didn't get steamed up just a bit fustrated, then he hit me with the kicker; His friend was another aquaintence of mine named Mark who works up at Jeff's BroncoGraveyard. Turns out the seat that I was going to get wound up on Chip Foose's Overhaulin where he put MY REAR SEAT on some lucky SOB's beautiful "to die for" rebuild..... :-[:-[

Now you've heard the rest of the story.....

p.s. I'm still looking for a rear seat too..

I got mine out of a 97 or 98 Jeep wrangler. Its 40 Inches wide and stuffs in between the wheel wells perfectly. The earlier jeep seats are smaller and create a gap. I just got lucky and picked this one up off of craigslist for $40. I covered the ugly green with a seat cover that came with my new seats and WAH LAH! looks like it came stock.

heres a couple using "JUNKYARD REAR SEATS"

And heres more using "JEEP REAR SEAT"

Rear seat

Hello,

This may very well be my first post to this forum. It's been a great source of inspiration these past few years.

I have the rear seat out of my '74 that is currently just sitting in my garage, taking up space. I'm not too crazy about shipping it but I do want it to go to somebody who will appreciate it and actually use it in a Bronco.

It needs to be upholstered. Make me an offer if you're interested. I believe that it comes with the seatbelts. I'm in Los Angeles.

Best,

-R.

Easy to measure between the wheel wells and then go shopping. Likely seats from Smaller SUV's, Custom Vans, etc. will all fit. The stock versions usually pop-up on Craigslist. I would never ship one - they are pretty common and the upholstery on eBay is awesome.

Couldn't help but notice that you were up in in da U.P...I grew up as a Troll (under the bridge)

I found this here in Colorado http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/1971430314.html

I could go look at it of you're interested, not sure what shipping would cost but I would be willing to help get it boxed up and sent out if the seller isn't willing.

Thanks for the input, just wanted a few ideas of what vehicles to target at the junkyard.
I like the look of the jeep seat, so I think i will go for that.
