Here is the dilema... I am assembling a new rear axle and the rear drums are not quite complete. I know I can pick up whl cylinders/shoes/hardware kit locally.. but I dont know what year the application is for!

I *guessed* at 75, but the shoes I ended up with were only 1 3/4 inch wide.. and the shoes I actually have on the axle are 2 1/2 inches wide... so now I am wondering if the other parts are for the wrong application too.

To top it all off.. there are some parts missing that the local parts store doesnt carry...

Drivers Side:
=============
Parkingbrake lever
Parkingbrake link
Parkingbrake lever retaining clip
Parkingbrake cable
Parkingbrake cable housing retainer

Passenger Side:
============
Cable guide

Any ideas on how to identify the application? Where to get parts? (easier to search when I know what they are for!) :)

Thanks guys.. and I am trying to get all this done so I can go to TDS!! So I am in a crunch!

.. but I cannot seem to find any of the parking brake lever pieces (internal drum) .. does anyone know if I can just leave out the parking brake assembely on the driver side and add it later?

matt,
call dutra or tony to see what they have in there stockpiles. If nothing pans out let me know, we may be able to loan you a part from the rustbucket to get you to tds.

i tried all the vendors.. they dont have em listed. looks like I am gonna have to hit dutra's and dig for em... When I talked to Jason @ BC, he offered to let me dig thru the heaps they had.. but that is about a 3 hour drive... if I drive that far, I am coming back with rear discs!

I still need to know if the rears will work right without the parking brake components in them? (would only be the driver side.. so TECHNICALLY, I would still have A parking brake) .. If I can get the adjusters on my brakes to move back enough, I will be able to get my drums off and scavenge parts there.. but last time I tried, those adjusters were FROZEN... maybe now that I dont care about the braking surface, I can PB blast em.

Having one would be worse than having none. One would self adjust and the other wouldn't. (That would cause it to pull to one side) They might work but it definately would not be right. I would get whatever new parts you need and make sure it is put back together the way it is supposed to be.

BTW, When all else fails check with the Ford Dealer.

im not sure but i think wild horses sells complete kits,backingplate and everything else, you just bolt it on. you should find out your axle offset. maybe you can run the 11x2.25 they are alot better than the 1.75 width ones.

I'm taking a hard look at the BC rear disc setup right now. I think it's hard to beat.
