I took my pan and my main bearing cap off, and the seal appears to be one piece seal. Someone told me in a previous post that before 81 were two piece seals. Maybe my bronco has a later model motor in it, or maybe I just don't know what I'm looking at.

The seal is a large, red polyurathane looking seal. The one I got from napa is smaller and black.

Has anyone replaced theirs? If it is a one piece I assume I need to pull the moter, right.

That for sure is a full circle seal, gotta pull tranny....good news is you don't have to mess with pan, rear main brg. Depending on how your rig is rigged, it might be easier to pull the mo-tex

If you want to sure of the year check the casting number on the block . With the starter off look on the block behind it . They are raised letters . It will start with an "C" , "D" , or "E" , followed by a number . C= '60's , D= '70's , E= '80's . The numbers = the year . E-2 would be an '82 .

Thanks for the input. I don't have the stuff to pull my motor, and don't feel like pulling the transmission. I think I'll just put it back together and live with the leak until I want to rebuild one of the three. Besides it's good to lubricate the clutch, right? j.k.
