Rear side marker light for '77

Just wondering... I've seen a couple of '77s with rear side marker lights vertical vs horizontal.

I thought horizontal was the factory correct version.

Anyone know?

Vertical rear marker lights are correct for 77 model broncos.

Rear side marker light for 77.

Flip out Gas door on 77 yr only, occupies the same real-estate as would a horizonal mounted light, so FORD turned it vertical.

Yep, all 77s have vertical markers on the rear because of the gas doors.
