removing column shifter

i converted my 77 3 spd on the column to a floor shifter...now i want to remove the column shifter.....it looks like there is a pin that holds it in place but i cant get it out.....

am i missing somthing ? seems like this should be easy

I drove that pin out and the arm came right off. Forgot all about it!

Anyone else have trouble driving pin out?
I been whacking pretty hard on that thing
I don't want to jack up the column???

i cut mine off, then ground it flush, and went down to the local hardware store and bought a pop in chrome cap to cover the hole!

I used a screw driver that just barely fit in the hole. Drove it about half way out then grabbed it with Vicegrips.

I was hoping to tap mine out too. No such luck. I ended up drilling out the entire pin. It didn't give up until the last shred from the pin was gone.
