Removing transmission adapter

I have the transmission removed from my bronco. I have removed the bolts for the adapter but can't get the adapter to break loose... Am I missing anything or are there any secrets to this?

a tap with a rubber hammer? if no bolts then should just be a gasket in holding it in place?
