Removing vacuum wiper motor

I'm trying to pull my vacuum wipers to do some maintenance and now that I finally managed to get the wiper arm off, I still can't pull the shaft back through the windshield.

How does the bushing (?) the the wiper arm attaches to come off so the shaft can be pulled back through the windshield frame? Is it threaded?

Faucet handle puller did the trick.

On mine, the old rubber bushings were solid as rocks. Had to take needle nose pliers and pull them apart. Then the arms came right through.
