Manual JD2 with a 2" die is $1000. Thats the one I was looking at.

Next to my welder my Pro Tools HD Bender has been my best and quickest reccuped tool. I have used it to build 5 cages and numerous bumpers and rocker guard bars. I spent $1400 for the bender, die, stand, degree ring, handle, notcher, and BendTech EZ software. Worth EVERY penny!

Mike

Sorry about the Heep pics, but you can't always pick your friends based on Bronco ownership or not :)

All the order in kits I've ever seen have been HREW. Don't waste your money. If you roll in an HREW cage, you will be buying another. HREW is good for one wreck only.

I believe extreem custom fab will do it for you in DOM and charge you the difference. I'm still not sold on DOM over HREW. Maybe others can chime in.

Same here.
I use A53-A106 seamless schedule40 pipe. Design and build it properly, a roll cage will do what it needs to do.. roll

I used 2" hrew. You might want to try M & K metal in gardena or hawthorne. I think they deliver on orders of $50 or more.

That is where that quote is from. Didnt know that they deliver. Good to know! It's not possible for me to get out of there for under $200!

What would you part with those two hoops for Steve?

It sounds like one of my friends wants that set. We got together last night and talked about bending up a few more sets on a weekend. Just not sure when. They're both jumping to get their new found broncos going.

Too bad for me. Can I use your bender sometime?

Got the welder, chop saw n skills.... Done a few before. Just need the bender and the notcher. Sounds like the JD2 is the way to go!

Just got a metal quote

2" .120 HREW $42.58/20'
1 3/4" .120 DOM $114.56/20'
2" .120 DOM $175.56/20'

What is the hrew and how heavy is it? I mean is it as strong as dom with the same wall thickness?

same wall, not as strong, 1/4 the price. google DOM tubing. its a higher quality process to make the tube. required in some race classes.

I'll let you know when we're gonna bend some stuff up. It's prolly not to far off. We can have m&k deliver what we need and bend up some bars. PM your cell number and I can see if the wifes phone can take a better pic to text over or just call me

After reading thishttp://www.rme4x4.com/showthread.php?t=2886 I think that Dom is overkill for roll cages and it is primarily used for its ability to be very straight and have close tolerances the whole length of it. This would be unnecessary for cages so why is everyone using it? The shop around my area that builds race car chassis with cages doesn't use it and they have to be approved to even run on the track. Just sayin, that everyone is using Dom cause everyone else is using it without knowing any better.
