Replace Windshield--- Will This Work?

I need to replace my front windsheild. I mostly use the Bronco off road wondering if there is a plastic or plexy glass that will not scratch easily. I think it could fasten easily to the out side of the frame. I have seen it on motorcycles. Has anyone done this on EB's? I go through many windshields I'm thinking this might be an easy and cheep fix to a problem I keep having.

I was getting my side glass replaced the other day and the glass man saw a crack in the windshield its been there almost 5 years now , but he said I could replace it with some sort of laminate. Might just check with a glass shop.
I have glass insurance so I'm waiting till it is broken bad.

The plexi glass will be more of a pain than its worth. It will be great when it's new first time it gets muddy and you wipe it off it will be scratched and after awhile you won't be able to see thru it. last windsheild I bought was 125.00 and I installed it in 30 minutes.

There is a product called Margaurd made by PPG if my memory serves me right. It is what is on airplanes that resist scratches, I have used it in my racecar. I do have some scratches in it now, but it is 15 years old and I wipe shoe polish off it alot. You can get it the same thickness as glass, so it will fit your stock seal tight.

I have a couple friends that are using SpeedGlass in their CJ's. They've had them at least 5 years now and they are still in good shape. One even rolled and the windshield popped out. You should have seen the confused look on people's faces when it didn't break. :)
