Ring & Pinion question.

Will a 4.10 ring and pinion set from a Ford Dana-30 swap into a Ford Dana-44 with the right carrier (both low pinion housings)? Talking about JUST the ring and pinion here...

Never tried it, but I'd say no. The carriers and housings are different. So, even if you could get the carrier to work, the housing would probably be so deep that you couldnt possibly shim the pinion. Gears really arent that expensive..

Yeah, just wondering if the gears are basically the same. We'd be taking the 4.10 R&P off a D-30 open carrier and putting them on a D-44 3.92 & up open carrier (if it's possible) for a front end swap.

Nope. Dana 30=7.20" Ring gear. Dana 44=8.50"
