Got a text this morning notifying me that racing legend Larry Minor passed away this morning. Larry was a member of the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame. He was Bill Stroppe's first "star" driver - joining the team for the 1968 season where he won the Mint 400, Stardust 7-11, Riverside Grand Prix and Baja 1000. In 1969, he teamed with Rod Hall for the 1000 and won the 1000 overall, beating all other competitors (including bikes) in a lightly modified 4WD Bronco. That feat, of a 4WD vehicle winning overall, went uncontested until recent times when all wheel drive Trophy Trucks started to win overall.

Larry went on to drive the Pony Bronco for Stroppe until 1975, winning many races along the way. He then focused on his highly successful drag racing team and also raced a GMC Class 8 truck in the 1980s.

RIP Larry.

Hi Todd,

Thanks for sharing this sad news.

Larry Minor will be missed. He led a life doing things that he enjoyed, and that he was very good at. To me that means he was a great success.

RIP, Larry.
