Roll Cage & Bolt length?

All,

Before I start stocking up on Grade 8's, what is a good length for the roll cage bolts? I am think 1.5" will be long enough considering dual washers, a lock washer & then a good locking nut?

I will be cutting/drilling pieces of 1/4 plate for under side reinforcement for each of the 6 feet of my family cage.

Any input to this one?

Thanks

Bill

That is a good size. Just remember that at least two on each side in front will probably go through the floor support. :) You may want to grab a few a little longer just in case.

2bad is right about maybe getting a couple of longer
bolts, also the rear kicker might fall on the support
rail near the tailgate.

you might wanna test out with some laying around the garage, i had to use a few different sizes after i built my backing plates to clear the floor supports, bout 75% were 1 1/4 though
