Rubber door seals

So who makes or carries the best ones? Mine are originals from 1976 and are in dire need of replacement. I'm getting tired of the draft on my left arm when the windows are up and it is cool outside.

I've read about how so many of them suck and are too hard so I don't want to go down that road unless there is no choice. Has anyone had luck with the ones from LMC? I ask because they are local to me so I cam pick them up and save on shipping.

The only experience we have with LMC is on my husband's 84 F150. We had a lot of problems with the doors not closing even after leaving it out in the sun to soften the seals. We originally thought it was a problem with the seals... and maybe it is, but we also had issues with the doors fitting incorrectly after the restoration. We tried soffseal and they were even thicker/harder, so we went back to the LMC seals and have gotten them to work with the doors (with a little help from a large rubber mallet...sounds scary doesn't it)

They do seal well. So well in fact that one of us has to roll our window down to close both doors because of the air pressure. The window vent seals were a problem though. They were hard to put in and now they are so tight we can't open the window.

Sorry it isn't info on an EB, but hope that helps a little.

I have found no aftermarket seals that are even close to working as well as the originals.

That's kind of my fear. I've had good luck with window seals on my old '79 Chevy half-ton but I've never done anything with door seals.

Sadly, at this point, even poor seals would be better than my factory seals. There are parts that are good but parts that are falling apart.

Best seals available. Expensive but the best. My opinion

X2, hands down the best seals available. I just picked up another set the other day. I believe the Metro Super Soft seals are even better that the factory originals. A buddy of mine used a set of N.O.S. factory seals on his last build and try weren't much better than the run of the mill aftermarket seals. Metro has them all beat. Well worth the money.

Ouch, 4 times the cost of other weather strips!

If they fit though..... I'm having trouble with the replacements I got from jbg.

These are the seals you were telling me about at SC? You also mentioned another part I need to make sure is aligned tight, can you elaborate on here for me?

Thanks Chad!

I vote no on LMC seals.

Still slamming my doors after 8 years and I guess getting a reality check typing this that they are as "broken in" as they're going to get

If I'd got Metro Seals to start with I'd been ahead as I'll have to spend for them now anyway

As you witnessed at the Super Celebration my doors close as smooth as not having door seals at all. This is mainly due to using the Metro seals and a little trick a good buddy of ours showed me.

Kinda hard to explain in writing, but here you go.

The area near the front top of the rocker panel area where the seal starts to turn up 90 degrees on the front door post. This is the most common area where the seal starts to roll and pinch when closing the door. Before you paint try to beat the flange in towards the floor pan, or cut and refit this area to create a wider gap between the door and the seal area. This prevents the seal from trying to roll up and pinch when the door closes. I learned this trick from the master in Charlotte.

What part number did you end up with for the door seals? I need door seals for my '76 and I'm not convinced I have the correct part no. Here's what I found: (correct me if I'm wrong)

66-67 : LM 11-B
78-79 : LM 110-A
80-96 : IS-LM 110
84-90 : LM 110-T

What about door seals for 68-77?

Thanks for the information about Metro Seals. That's the information that I was looking for. And good looking out on searching Amazon for them. I don't mind spending a little extra on them if they are good quality and fit well. If they are as good as, or better than stock then I'm happy with that. I'll hopefully be picking up a set soon.
