Can anyone recommend a ru$t inhibitor / coating for the floor board of my EB? Everyone claim$ to be the BEST! I want to know what experience$ other EB owner$ have had with the$e product$. $pecificatly Rust Bullet & POR 15. How well doe$ paint $tick after these product$ are applied? How ea$y are they to u$e? How durable are they? I know it'$ a lot of question$, but money i$ tight & I can't afford to do it twice. Thank$ in advance for all of the information.

The POR 15 is good but most paint and coatings will not stick to it unless you use their special primer, but it is easy to use can brush on and floats out smooth with little to no brush marks.

POR 15 is a good application, Line X comes in different colors now, Very durable if you go w/a neutral color, may be a little too pricey for ya though.

I've used Rust bullet. I didn't spray it and I probably never would (you would never get your gun clean). It came out great on my frame and some other suspension pieces, but I also put the black coat on it and the finish came out more like a hamered finish. I like it and will probably use it on my bumpers and a few other things. If you are planning to paint over it with another paint and have a nice smooth finish, then it would need a fair amount of sanding to get it real smooth. If you are going over it with another coating like a bed liner then it would be fine. You may like the POR better if you are working on exterior panels that will get refinished with a nice automotive paint.

Kill / remove the rust and you dont need the por 15. However I have used it and it works good. I have had good luck with putting DP90 over it. If you kill the rust dp90 ( primer sealer) works good to. just did the underside of the Bronco I am working on now.

Not sure if you want to do something spray-on, but Al's Liner acts as a rust encapsulator. It's incredibly durable because it is a truck bed liner, and prevents anything from penetrating, so the only way it would rust would be from the backside.

POR-15 is good too, but it also isn't UV-stable if you want to leave it bare. I used POR-15 on a frame for a 68 Camaro we're building and we had to topcoat it with a different paint so it wouldn't fade. I don't have any experience with Rust Bullet, but I've heard it is good stuff.

I've been a POR15 fanatic for a couple months now. Just finished with my D44, and have painted a few other things. I finally bit the $$ bullet the other day and ordered a bigger quantity.

So far, I've been REALLY happy just buying the "starter kits" that run about $19.00 and come with a small bottle of Marine Clean, small bottle of Metal Ready, and 4oz can of POR15. With less than a 4oz can of POR15 I was able to double coat my D44 & radius arms, and single coat the knuckles.

I haven't used that POR-15, but those parts Landho shows look brand new once that POR-15 fills in the pits and levels as well as it does. Just wish you didn't have to top coat it for UV protection. If that Master Series is as good as there website promotes then I don't think it you can go wrong with it either.

Another vote for POR15. Mine is 5 years old and holding strong.
