Rust, repair, jump damage?

If I have rockers with holes above step area, I'm guessing not original to truck, right? Posts are in horrible shape.
The only reason I can think of that the body got mangled above the shock mounts on both rear sides would be aerials, like big jumps? There used to be a 3" BL, now 1" WH BL with 3.5 SP. How do you damage body with 3" lift? Doesn't make sense.

The holes are where the weatherstripping clips go. The notch above the rear shock is stock. Every Bronco has both.
