Sandblasting and using kbs rust seal question

After going back and forth on how I want to attack the rust and seal up my bronco, I’ve finally decide to go sandblast and coat with kbs rust seal. I’ve read everything I can find about it and it looks impressive. Kbs instructions for sandblasted metal is to just blow off any remaining dust then coat with the rust seal. Says treating with their kleen and rust blast products is not required for blasted metal. My question is has anyone had a problem with the rust seal not adhering to the metal after only sand blasting as per their recommendation?? Thanks for any feedback!

No problem at all. I did it both ways. Frame with kleen and rust blast after sand blasting, and body just sprayed after blasting. Adhesion is rock solid. It just needs a clean, rough surface to adhere to. That's what sandblasting gives you. the Kleen and blast is used to make your surface clean. That's it. BTW I got this promo for 15% off if you use the link so save yourself some money. They sent it to past customers.

Thanks man I really appreciate it. How satisfied have you been with the rust seal overall?

I love it. I've dropped all kinds of stuff on the frame while assembling. Not a mark. I decided to hit a spot I needed to take off with a hammer first. Nothing. My advice though is if you're painting your frame, put some tape over your VIN. KBS is thick and has low surface tension which makes it lay flat filling in scratches. It'll hide your VIN. I coated the VIN with clear coat when I was done. In the picture you'll notice the rough surface on the underside of the body. I added ceramic microspheres to the KBS. They're supposed to help with heat and sound insulation, but who knows.

Did you spray it on or brush it on? One way better than the other in your opinion? I’ll check on some of those ceramic microspheres. Thanks for the tip!

Brushed it on the frame. Sprayed on the body. My advice:

Spray. I brushed outside the temp range and got some brush marks.

Pay attention to the air temp. Keep withing the range or try to adjust by adding #1 thinner

Now most of this stuff is no matter what you're spraying so:

It's water cured. Your lungs are filled with water. WEAR A RESPIRATOR!!!!! or it will kill you. I use a P100

Wear 2 pairs of gloves. The outside set will get KBS on it. When you go to take it off, you'll want the inside set to protect your finger tips taking the outside pair off. If it gets on your skin it'll stay there until your skin grows out.

Wear long sleeve old clothes or a full painter's suit.

Get this on sale for $9.99. When you're done just toss it. You'll never get it clean KBS sticks to everything and this gun sprays fine for what you're doing.

Where ever you are spraying it, put paper or plastic down. I covered my whole garage floor with painter's paper taped down. But I painted the underside later and only did half the garage floor. It now has a shadow on the uncovered side.

i don't really recommend the ceramic microspheres. I don't think they do that much on a Bronco, but I had some from painting my house and I liked the texture so I used it on the Bronco body. I figured how bad could it be. But if you're so inclined, this is the product I used. I originally bought it from the manufacturer, but now they sell it (cheaper) on Amazon

Clean it as soon as you are done. If it sets up, it's a bear to clean.
