seam sealant

I posted earlier but can't find it so I'll try again, sorry if it's a duplicate. What seam sealant do you guys use where the body panels come together before paint. Thanks in advance, Greg

That stuff is OK. But if you want something that will last as long as the car. Use 3m panel bond or fastline panel bond.
You can put it on then rub the line with your finger to make it smooth. Plus it will hold up alot better than seam sealer and can paint over too. Once I used that stuff I would never buy seam sealer again.

Im not a fan of the 3M stuff. Not their best product IMHO. I prefer Lord Fusor sealants. I have been very pleased with them so far from panel bond, to seam sealer as well as self leveling seem sealer for the roof gutter.

3M is alittle over price. But when it comes to fast line Sherwin William brand. Man you can not beat that stuff. There primer sands so good and there paint is top notch. Paint is high but goes on good.

Which Lord Fusor ### will work for an EB? Single tube or double tube? Amazon carries 3M, any other recommendations?

Go there or find a Sherwin Williams close by. They carry everything. I was a big time PPG and uro clear. Till a buddy of mine turned me on to them. He's been building cars for 20+ years now and man there clear is the best. Sands so easy and spays good. I like the panel bond because you can make it look like seam sealer. Plus it will last alot longer to

so are you using panel bond and then seam sealer or just panel bond?

Just the panle bond. You can put it in the cracks. Then run your finger on it to push it in the Groove. And if you have some that's still on. It can be sanded off. That's just what I like to use. It still shows the body lines and paint will stay on it. Plus it's strong as hell. I'm just not a fan of seam sealer because it always seems to break down first on old cars.

i think you can use it over epoxy. i blast first then prime real good and use it. and yes hot rodders use it alot because it holds up so well.

I've been using SEM Dual-Mix products and have been pleased with the results. On my current build I've used their weld bond adhesive to install a new rocker panel, patch panel adhesive for some small stuff, self leveling seam sealer and regular seam sealer on welded seams and to replace some of the old dug out sealer prior to painting.

Most metal bonding products require both surfaces to be good clean bare metal, and roughed up with a 36 grit disc for good bite.
The seam sealers I use can be applied over bare metal, oem finish, or epoxy and urethane primers, and are paintable right away.

Glad this came up. Last week I was at a local paint store to buy some epoxy paint. Looking to replace floor pans and floor support. I asked them if it was comparable with panel bond and seam sealer. The assured me it was but it would need to be scuffed up first. I know that some mentioned no love for the 3m stuff here but's one of the lines they carry. I was shown a display card with many options. Some with panel bond and seam sealer combined and different formulas.

Not to hijack just looking for clarification.

I use proform PF214 its paintable seam sealer, but now im going to look into some of the products mentioned of above.
