Hello,
In my ongoing quest to restore my 72 i have run into 2 sheet metal parts directly under the drivers seat, parallel with the frame and around 1 ft. long each. In the center of each a nut is welded to allow something from inside the Bronco to bolt to. The only place i found any pictures is the link below, if you click to bottom side view, you will see the 2 sheet metal parts to the right, next to where the auxiliary tank fill and vent lines run through.

what is this part for? no vendor sells it and 1 of mine is in really bad shape. I talked to Wild Horses, and they said people just replace it with c channel, i just have no idea what its purpose was and if i really need them.

They are the seat supports. As far as I know it's not available as a part. You can use c channel to replace it. To more closely mimmic the original use hat channel. Either is available at any metal supply. Some of the big box stores may carry it as well.

does anything actually bolt to them?

As stated above, seat reinforcement for the floorboards. Yes there would be a nut attached so that you can mount bucket seat rear mounts to them.

I believe all Broncos came with them, even if you have a bench seat.

ahh, that sheds some light on what it is/does. It has been roughly 20 years since i stripped my 72 down, so the memory is a little fuzzy. :) The fact that there is no aftermarket supplier that sells them also caught me off guard, Wildhorses does not sell just the brackets, you have to buy the entire seat pan assembly, i also did not find any other vendor that sells it.
Thanks for the help Rydog, i will keep you in mind if i have any questions or just need to look a Bronco over. Where at in Kalamazoo are you located, i work at Dimplex Thermal Solutions which is between Miller Rd. and Cork.
