Hey, where do you guys get your sheet metal stock for fab purposes? What gauge do you use for structural and non-structural? Thanks.

Check the Jello Pages under iron or steel. For the thinner floor pans with reinforcing ribs, 20ga works well and thicker than stock. For tunnel repairs, kick panels, inner fenders and supports, 18ga is ideal. Even make the lower brackets for front fenders out of 20 ga. They look like originals and thicker than rusted remains of stock ones. I buy in 4X8 sheets. Less than $50 for either. I can do 2 complete set of floorpans with inner fender and kick panels with one sheet of each gauge and have left overs.

Hey Randy I thought parts of your trail rig resemble a Maytag!

What you saw was All Bronco or what was left of it.
Next time you see it I will have GE parts and a few other things I picked up off a buddies junk pile.

After closer look, this appears to be what you'd want "S120 Cold Rolled Steel Sheet 20 GA. (.036 thick) Steel Sheet ". Correct? 4' x 10' sheet for $60 ain't bad, I don't think!

Most heating & AC shops have a variety of sheetmetal, and will cut and bend it

Ask them about "Galveneal". It is electroplated with zink as opposed to HDG (Hot Dip Galvanizing). It has a much thinner and uniform mat finish. It welds much much better than galvanized and has very good corrosion resistance. It paints nicely and doesnt require the prep that HDG does. It's great for floor board replacement and other areas where corrosion might be an issue. It will make a small amount of white powder (zink oxide) and fumes but nothing near as bad as HDG. Make it a practice not to breath any welding fumes. A lot of the replacement body panels are Galvaneal.

Thatis pretty much all I use any more.
It goes under different tradenames such as paint loc, paintlock, or readycoat.
It looks kind of gray and is great to paint.

20 or 18. Either I find pretty workable. Nice thing is when you need a 4' by 4" piece they will cut it for you and send you the left over. (Of course they change for the smallest piece that will fit before cutting).
