I am looking at picking up a 66 Bronco that has the inline 6 and the 3 on the tree. Is there a kit or something that can be used to remove the shifter from the steering column and add a floor shifter?

Check the links section on this site almost every Bronco Parts distributer sells a Hurst set up or one that is custom made like Duffs that works even better. Only problem for you is most are made for the V8 - You are lookin at an InLine 6 which will probably require cutting the rods and rewelding to make them shorter. I think one of the distributors sells pre cut rods...do some research. You might just want to give it some time with the column shifter. It might grow on you.

By the way when you do the conversion you are still left with the shift collar on the column that they also sell a smoothed out one to clean up the look -- if that it something you are concerned about.

I've done the conversion for the Duff's shifter to an I6 set up. Not too bad. I fould I had to shorten and rework some of the bends to clear everything, though. I know some people like the 3 on the tree for nostalgia reasons, but I really found the floor shifter to be a good improvement. I would recommend the Duff's - it seems to be better made and has a shorter throw.
