1970 Broonco with 302. My shifter wouldn't grab Reverse or 1st gear so I assumed my issue was with the shift collar. Once disassembled, the collar looks good as does the shift tube. I did notice during disassembly that the cone washer that seats the shift collar was not seated well and there wasn't a snap ring. Looking at parts from all of the vendors, I can only find a snap ring for 74s and up. Does the 1970 need that snap ring? There was a lot of slop in the shift collar before disassembly Also, the linkage was disconnected and tested to ensure that the transmission shifted properly. Thanks.
