I'll have to revisit this thread when I ever get my gate done. I have a neat idea and have what I need to do it, just gotta get to it.

yeap but I just wanna build a tailgate no tire rack or none of that stuff. And cover with preferated metal or skin it with aluminum. Was gonna go SS one but bare metal alone over a k$

You are looking inthe wrong places then.

16gauge 36x48 is $151 at onlinemetals.com. 304, brushed SS.

Yeah, 1/8th is expensive. Not sure how thick you need. I think stock is 18 or 16 guage.

Any of it is going to be a pita without a good, but sheet metal brake. Expensive mistakes.

No aint going there, gonna be simple flat gate outa square tubin will only be skinned on one side if I dream up the need for a rack but inside must be skinned to sit on. basicly for sitting and keepin stuff from rolling out the back including my dogs.

Yea but Im havin issues stomachin the price of what I wanna build in SS.....might do it in steel first.

My letters are made of SS and they would be easy to change the size and locate them across the tailgate instead of in the corner like mine are.
