Smashed up the Stroppe-Pics, looking for body shop in Los Angeles

My brakes went out on the Stroppe today while driving into Hollywood near the Hollywood Bowl. Clipped the car in front of me and swiped a concrete light pole. I think the damage could have been a lot worse, but thank god for my 1/4" Hanson bumper! I am so bummed, my truck was still looking really good from the body work and paint job that Alan Fahey did to it 9+ years ago when I was living in Virginia. Too bad I don't know a Alan out here! -because I don't I am looking for a good body shop in the Los Angeles area that I can take my Stroppe to to get it worked on. Any recommendations? The insurance company stated I can take it to any shop I want. I want to get it in as soon as possible, since it is my daily driver.

Pics of the damage:

There's that Foose guy out there in CA!! I hear he's pretty decent with body work. I'm sure for enough Benjamins he could fit you into his schedule. He might even like the idea of working on a Stroppe rig.

Ouch. I know that pucker up feeling. I had a mc go out on my '74 once in Denver with my boss and 2 other people on board. It was like a game of musical chairs as everyone was fighting for seat belts.

Sorry about the damage, glad your ok. I had a real bad feeling when my steering linkage went at 60 mph on the freeway (on a overpass turn). i was lucky and stopped with no damage.

Wasn't your Bronco stolen a fw years ago too. You need to move back here:)

Going by the pictures I can tell you what the bare minimum should be on the estimate.
Replace and refinsish the grille & fender
Repair and refinsish hood, core support and possoble the left apron
Replace healight ring, marker light, grille trim
blend left door and r&i mirror, door handle, and belt moulding
2 tone for fender, door and grille

If I were doing the job I would also get blend the right fender along with R&I the marker light.
Also possibly powercoat the front bumper.

I used Standox on your Bronco but Spies Hecker is the same thing. If you can find a shop that uses either paint line the color match will be better, I'm sure I used the standard for all the colors on it. If you need a hand finding a shop using Spies I can call and find a local jobber who would recomend a good shop.

Can you imagine how bad the damage would have been if you had the original chrome bumper on it? Thanks God for 1/4" bumpers. Too bad it didn't extend up or more to the side! Good to hear you are ok.

Steve, that needs ALOT of buffing, I don't have enough buffer to fix that:)

Mark,
Ask the bodyshop to measure the frame also. Since the bumper is stout and took most of the impact the frame might be bent. There aren't any frame specs in the databases but they can do it old school and put tram guages on it.

Allen, thanks for the insight! - I will be sure to give the body shop all of that info. Too bad you are not out here my man, people still compliment me on the paint job, and its almost been 10 years since you did it! -

I can offer two recommendations on body shops:

1. California West Coast Paint and Body, 5050 Venice Bl. near La Brea
2. Bistagne Brothers, Chevy Chase and Verdugo in Glendale

Good luck!
