I know that the "Spare Parts Run 2021" was just a couple weeks ago, unfortunately I could not make it. How did it go?

SMORR- Southern Missouri off Road Ranch June 25-27

"Just a bunch of great guys and gals who always got together for Howiepalooza started up an event. Organized by David Lindemyer"

Again I could not make it, so the son in law and I are going down with one of his jeep buddies. We ARE taking both our Bronco's...on this Friday the 16th, wheeling on Sat 17th and some am fun on Sunday the 8th of JULY.

Yes there is a Jeep club thing also planned (so all cabins are rented) and the trails might be littered with broke jeeps...Lol.

PM me if you can make it and want my ph #.

Strength in numbers!

Tow rig is hooked to the one big trailer, the traveling out town extra cross bed tool boxes are loaded. Both Bronco wheeling rigs spares and trailer spare are loaded. The son in laws Bronco will go on tomorrow.

Once I get my new axel shafts in, it is thrash time to get it ready to go on the other trailer friday AM. We have to hit the road by noon.

Upgrade axles came in late and after a parts run to town (seals and snap rings...) I am still not done. It all went together easy enough, until I go to put the lock in/out cam on. Something is not letting it go in far enough to get either snap ring in place. Especially the outer one for the hub to hold the internal piece of the lock in/out in the hub.

Well evening folks...so it goes like this, as you know I got my upgraded axles in the mail late thursday evening. Worked late into the evening and most of fri AM trying to figure out the fitment issue. Either they set me the wrong axles or for some reason the hub 4wd lock in/out inner piece will not go in enough to get the large snap ring to go in.

But if I do not torque the inner and outer spindle nuts and slide the rotor/hub out a bit, it goes in fine. Now of course I can not, NOT tighten the spindle nuts. I checked the inner race to be to far in, nope not the problem. Really interesting is it was all working just fine and it came apart with no special pieces or parts installed or removed.

So at noon fri I called it quits, and we loaded the son in laws Bronco and took one rig only to SMORR. As planned we met up with the SIL's work friend and we wheeled the rest of the Friday afternoon and into Friday evening. Had a multi trail convoy of Bronco, CJ7 and some 5 or 6 tag along custom Razor's. We were just showing the new Razor folks the trails and we all had a blast. The rainy weather held off for us.

This morning started off great, hit some good 3's early on and then about 1/2 way into a severely washed out trail called Flex N Stuff, we lost drive power to the front right tire. Lock in/out was good, U-joint was good, short shaft side was good. So we suspect we had the passenger side front axle shaft snap.

Now getting backed down to a turn around point with a 3 wheel drive was interesting to say the least. And then in a deep rutted tri Y intersection (that was only as wide as the Bronco is long) I got it all kinds of hung up sideways. So out came the Jeeps winch cable and got the front end drug back around and headed in a downhill direction. 3wd was killing me.

After that, we tossed in the towel, headed back to camp. Once back we trouble shot the issue best we could. But not having a spare front axle shaft we did not dig too deep, because we still needed to put it on the trailer. Which we did, and called it a day.

So...moral of the story, always wheel with a buddy with a just as capable rig, his winch saved the day for sure. Pictures....nope not a one, I was busy driving and you know how the rest of the story goes.

dang sound about right for there, always a lot of damage to vehicles but its fun;D I cant count on how many I have had there. My brother was there with Spareparts a few weeks ago, didn't break or roll over his bronco. Just broke his ankle lol.
Rebuild it and make it stronger lol;D

Well found out that the upgrade axles (stub shafts) has improper splines cut. They were NOT deep enough, meaning not down the axle shaft length wise going towards the end of the spindle.

So now I wait....

Well I had to mail them back to WH (they were nice enough to cover the return postage-ground snail mail-slow to go) and they refunded my 2 day to me S&H I paid in the 1st place.

But they were out of CTM joints....so they could not build mine (with the correct ends) until I sent mine back. They got them friday and the "guy" that does it... is out until Monday.

So no wheeling this weekend, and waiting until Monday to get the rebuilt, and I am sure slow mailed back to me and then I get do it all over again.

Glad I have other projects to occupy my time.
