I rattle canned mine. Stripped it to bare metal, primed and painted it myself. Probably, ended up with about 300-400 dollars in it if you count labor at about 20 bucks an hour. it turned out pretty good for a trail rig. didn't see the point in an expensive paint job just to scratch and beat up.

I don't do sheetmetal work. i can do panel replacement and all that, but don't have the eye or the skill to do finish work. i have a local shop that is kind of 'out of the way' that only charges about $25 an hour. The going rate is about $50 in most nice shops. The cheapest i've gotten out with is about 2k- this was on a clean truck that didn't need much at all other than a few small dents removed. I've seen some of the prices people are speaking of for having a shop do it all for about 5-6k. if you can find that, and they stand by their work- go for it! this is if your ride needs a bunch of metal work and you want it done right and in a timely manner. it takes 1/2 of forever to do it properly.
