Sometimes I think my bronco hates me.

I got off work early today and decided to start the process of moving the rear axle back an inch. After fighting rusty u-bolts on one side for an hour I happened to see something odd. Started grinding and found a small crack. And of course I just sold my last two rear axles. So after grinding and welding I went to do a couple cross welds and ran out of wire.

I know that my Bronco hates me.

But aside from that, I replaced my stock small bearing housing with a large bearing housing from Currie. They make a very nice housing and I have no complaints at all. It is a worthwhile upgrade. I ended up with bigger brakes, bigger axle bearings (I was already running 31 spline axles but with the conversion bearings that the vendors sell), and I feel a lot better about the strength of my rear axle now.

EB's can be fickle creatures...you just gotta take the bad with the good. It sounds like your welder has it out for you too, so you might want to check your bottle of cover gas while you're getting wire, because if it was me, that would be the next thing to run out...maybe a liner or gun issue at the same time just for kicks.

I know what you mean. My wife walked in the shop one day and saw a few drops of oil on the floor. She asked me where the oil came from. I told her from that Ole Bronco. She said, I thought you had everything in it new. I said they are just like an Ole Harley with 4 wheels. If you drive it, it's going to leak oil and you are going to work on it!
