Anyone put a covering over sound deadening other than carpet that you can hose out your Bronco? Want either thick liner that will sound/heat insulate the tub and top, or something I can put over a sound mat sat will be water proof. Bronco will be a crawler at times, needs to be comfortable and clean able. Open to all ideas.

I’ve been ordering new trucks with the carpet delete, and just the vinyl floor installed for the past few decades. With floor mats, it holds up well for several years of daily driving. While not garden hose safe, with vacuuming and a damp rag followed by Armor-all or equivalent, it cleans up nicely. Most of the Bronco supply concerns offer comprehensive kits.

Whatever you put down as a sound deadener , besides spray on types, will just invite rust to start. Snap in floor mats are an option.

Sound deadeners / Insulation

Turns out my Bronco will have epoxy paint down 1st. I'm looking at sound deadeners...Dynamat, Noico, what have you used and what works but is affordable?

Thanks,

Forrest

PS, I'm not going to line it with a liner, but I will put a liner on the bottom of the tub and on the inside of the fenders for rock / dent protection.

I used Noico. It's buytal with a thin aluminum cover so it's water proof. I ran KBS on the media blasted steel under it, and Noico green on top. It's closed cell PE foam so it's waterproof too. I have carpet on top of the green. The problem is it's in sheets and will tear easily without a carpet or something on top of it.

How thick did you get it? About how many sqft? Did you use it in the doors and top too? I'm just wondering if there is something out there that is flexible that could be sprayed or rolled on top of it to seal it all up?

I used 1 layer of butyl and one layer of green. Butyl for sound and green for heat. Did the floors, sides, firewall, doors (exterior skin) and roof of hard top. It's pretty tight on the gaps. I didn't use tape on the gaps like Dynamat offers, but the green is pretty flexible. Think memory foam. If you put something on top of that it would have to be flexible. If you skipped the green and just put something on the butyl, it's pretty solid. A rhino liner might work, but I think most people who are putting a sound deadener in are covering it with carpet, or just using rhino liner for the sound deadening. You might want to reach out to one of the builders, like Nick or Nick's trix, or englewoodcowboy and see if they have had this situation.

BMW 3 series front buckets, Bestop TrailMax II Fold and Tumble Rears. The fronts were picked up from a local used seat supplier although I had to request what I wanted and wait about 2 months before he found a set. Fortunately I picked up the rears from Amazon as a returned set for $215 with free shipping. They're going in to have the vinyl replaced with matching leather of the fronts. The BMW seats are a hair high at 8" but 8 way adjustable, heated, and $250 for the pair, plus a tilt steering and 14 inch wheel makes them fit fine for my 6 foot frame.

Just for ideas, check out Raptor liner on amazon. It would take about 4 bottles for inner tub.

Ensolite sheets, varying thickness over at foammart.com
